For the second time in three weeks The Citadel's Brian White
earned CRONS Southern Conference Freshman of the Week honors from the league.
White becomes the sixth Bulldog to earn a SoCon weekly award twice in the same season in program history, joining the likes of Tom Slawson (1978-79), Regan Truesdale (1983-84; 1984-85), Kent Hill (1985-86), Patrick Elmore (1989-90) and Mike Groselle (2012-13).
White averaged 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds against Wake Forest and Montreat. The Richmond, Va., native connected on 16-of-21 (.762) attempts from the floor and added two assists and a blocked shot last week. These efforts moved him to second in scoring (15.0 ppg) among league freshman and fourth in the conference overall in rebounding (7.3 rpg).
His week began with an 18-point, five-rebound outing against Wake Forest. In 32 minutes against the Demon Deacons he knocked down 9-of-13 (69.2%) from the floor and climbed the glass for four defensive rebounds.
That was followed by the second double-double (19 points, 10 rebounds) of White's career, which came in a 109-64 victory over Montreat. He finished 7-of-8 (87.5%) from the floor and was 5-of-6 from the charity stripe against the Cavaliers.
