KNOXVILLE, TN (RNN) – Despite trailing early on in the second half, the Tennessee Volunteers defeated the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles 84-63 on Saturday.

The victory came with a little rust for the Volunteers (6-2); it was their first game since a Nov. 30 tournament win at the Battle 4 Atlantis against Wake Forest.

The Golden Eagles (5-6) – a school nearly 100 miles away from Knoxville – led the Volunteers at the half by one point, but were soundly beaten in the second frame, and were outscored 43-23.

Forward Jarnell Stokes led the victory with his fourth consecutive double-double, with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Jordan McRae scored 16 points and four assists.

The Volunteers next game is on the road against No. 11 Wichita State Shockers on Saturday, Dec. 14.
