(WMC-TV) - The Action News 5 Investigators are looking into why warrants have been served for a Memphis father, labeled a deadbeat dad even though he is dead.
"It's disturbing. It's emotionally distressing," said mother Shauna Jones-Grandberry.
Jones-Grandberry was shocked when she saw her son's picture in a magazine of mugshots.
"That they have your [family member] in the just busted paper as a deadbeat dad," she said.
In the paper you will find photos of people arrested in the Mid-South. Front and center is her son Crishun Moore's picture, but he has been dead almost two years. The former rapper's death was even noted when state representative Antonio Parkinson signed a declaration last year.
Action News 5 called Shelby County Juvenile Court, but we were told a private company, Maximus Corrections, handles the warrant process for the county. A message at their company headquarters in Virginia stated they were closed Tuesday due to weather.
"You're paying all these people to come out here and serve a warrant, who's not even living," said Grandberry.
Grandberry said deputies have surrounded the house before looking for her son.
"They've even been to the house prior, for him, surrounded the house as if they're waiting for him to jump out a window or something, and that's tax dollars," she said.
The frustrated family is desperate for answers and wants to clear Moore's name. They say never had any problems supporting his children.
"Go get the parents that are living, that's not following court order for child support," she said.
