(WMC-TV) - It wasn't the season the Memphis football team had hoped for, but three Tigers are named to the inaugural American Athletic Conference all-league teams.
Punter Tom Hornsey, defensive end Martin Ifedi and freshman placekicker Jake Elliott are all named to the AAC First team, as voted on by the league's coaches.
Hornsey is also named co-American Conference Special Teams Player of the Year along with Houston's freshman return specialist Demarcus Ayers.
The Ray Guy Award finalist averaged 45.2 yards per punt to lead the conference his senior season.
Ifedi finished his junior season, ranking sixth nationally in quarterback sacs with 11.5 and totaled 52 total tackles.
Elliott tied a Memphis freshman record by booting 16 field goals, including a school record tying 56-yarder.
