(RNN) - Mississippi State (7-2) will face Florida Gulf Coast, the team that became America's Darling in last year's NCAA Tournament, on Thursday at Humphrey Coliseum. The game will be broadcast on CSS and ESPN3.

Dre Applewhite logged a double-double as the Bulldogs raced past Florida A&M in their last outing, leading buzzer-to-buzzer and winning 78-65. The freshman guard scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

MSU hit 33 of 45 free throws against the Rattlers and only made 12 turnovers.

Florida Gulf Coast, which made the Sweet 16 last year, is 5-5 so far and has struggled to a 1-4 record on the road.

The Eagles are coming off a controversial 68-66 double-OT loss at South Florida. They thought they'd tied the game when Chase Fieler canned a shot after catching a perfect length-of-the-court pass with 0.3 left in the second overtime. The ball appeared to drop through the net before the red lights went off, but officials ruled he could not have made the shot in the three-tenths of a second after it hit his hands.

Bernard Thompson leads the Eagles scoring with 15.9 points per game; Brett Comer averages 14.1 and Fieler 13.7.
