Memphis Tigers cruise over Jackson State

(WMC-TV) - The Memphis Tigers built an early 19 point lead over Jackson State's Tigers at FedExForum and held on to win 75-61.

David Pellom scored 12 points, 10 of which came on dunks. Pellom had the game's highlight when he stole the ball at the top of the key, and threw it down at the other end on a one-man breakaway.

The Tigers started the game hot, with Chris Crawford hitting two threes in the game's first couple minutes, but Memphis only shot 4-21 from behind the arc.

"We're a good shooting team," said Josh Pastner. "The shots will go in. Since I'm a glass overflowing guy, I think we're getting all of our misses out early before the conference season starts."

Michael Dixon led the Tigers with 14 points, and Shaq Goodwin added a statsheet-filling performance with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks and 2 steals.

The Tigers play in their first American Athletic Conference basketball game Tuesday at South Florida.
