NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Cold weather can be the enemy of cell phones, so if you want to keep your phone in top condition, you'll want to follow these cold weather tips.

If your phone shuts down from the cold, don't restart it until you give it time to warm back up.

To prevent that from happening, keep the phone in a pocket close to your body heat.

Try not to leave your phone in cold areas like parked cars, but if you have to, turn the phone off.

And, most importantly, make sure the phone stays fully charged and you have a back-up power source.

If you're out there in the winter weather, you may have an emergency and then will want all the phone power you can get.
