GRADY COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

Over a two week period four dead donkeys have been discovered in Grady County. Officials say if they find any more they will launch a full investigation.

The first two donkeys were found on Higdon Road, in the Calvary area. One day later another was found on Cabin Lane, just west of Calvary. On Sunday the body of a donkey was found on Hawthorne Trail.

"If we have another one that somebody throws out, we're going to notify the state agriculture inspector to come check it out to see if he can help determine the cause of why they died," said Grady County Road Superintendent Stanley Elkins.

He says that the donkeys didn't appear to be shot, but did look malnourished. Grady County Roads and Bridges division does want to make sure that people dispose of dead animals in a proper way.
