MY TURN: Observing MLK's 85th birthday

(WMC-TV) - As we observe the 85th birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. I'd like to honor him by recalling three of his quotations which mean a lot to me. First, from his Letter from Birmingham Jail, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." Then, this one which should ring true for journalists everywhere, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." And finally, my favorite, "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."

Those are three of my favorite ones, and that's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email or call 800-465-1210.
