MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A special sneak peek was given to Action News 5 of how the renovations at the National Civil Rights Museum are coming along.

The museum is preparing to unveil an unprecedented $27 million renovation. The remodel is so complex that the museum had to delay it's grand opening from March to April 4.

"We've added lots of technology in there, lots of interactivity and film," said Barbara Andrews, National Civil Rights Museum.

Renderings shown exclusively to Action News 5's Anna Marie Hartman show a new and improved museum. Visitors can picture themselves in the lobby, taking in the story of Brown vs. the Board of Education, the sit-in movement, and traveling through time in an expanded Memphis exhibit.

The renderings will be shared with visitors who show up to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday in the courtyard of the Lorraine Motel.

"Come on out on Monday and help us commemorate and celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King," said Andrews.
