Mid-South goes under winter weather advisory Friday evening

(WMC-TV) – A Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect for a large part of the Mid-South at 6 p.m. Friday, February 7 and lasts until 6 a.m. Saturday, February 8.

Action News 5's Meteorologist Ron Childers is expecting accumulation of about half an inch in the Memphis area and up to two inches in the surrounding areas, especially along and north of Interstate 40.

The snow is expected to move into the Mid-South Friday night into Saturday morning.

Our meteorologists are calling for a mostly cloudy and cold Friday. The high temperatures will only reach into the mid-thirties. Snow showers and low temperatures will be in the mid-twenties for Friday night.

Saturday will be a little warmer with highs in the lower forties, but it will be mostly cloudy. Sunday will be partly cloudy and warmer with high temperatures in the mid-forties.
