18-year-old charged with bringing knife to high school

(WMC-TV) - An 18-year-old was arrested Thursday morning after police say he brought a small knife to Kirby High School.

According to an affidavit of complaint, a metal detector alerted officers to the knife, which was found in Lavall Frye's backpack.

Frye is charged with carrying a weapon on school property. His bond is set at $1,000.

According to an Action News 5 database, this is the sixth knife found on a Shelby County School District campus so far this school year.
