Hundreds show up for call center's job fair

Posted: Updated:

(WMC - TV) - Hundreds of people showed up for the American Home Shield job fair held in Memphis Thursday.

The line at the application office was so long that it wrapped around the building.

Applicants could apply for jobs in a variety of positions.  American Home Shield is preparing for summer because as people start using their air conditioning again, the call volume goes up.

American Home Shield is the nation's leading provider of home warranties.

Thursday's job fair allowed applicants to meet with the managers for interviews and tour the call center.

The company is looking to fill 188 positions, each paying between $12 and $13.50 per hour.  Workers who speak both English and Spanish will receive pay on the higher end.  They are looking to fill 20 to 40 bilingual positions.

The company is also seeking people who have good computer, phone skills, and a positive attitude.

Company officials say the people hired on Thursday will begin working in March.
