Franklin police cars hit responding to I-65 wreck

FRANKLIN, TN (WSMV) -

Two Franklin police vehicles were hit while officers worked a wreck on Interstate 65 Sunday night.

One officer had to go to the hospital because of neck pain, Sgt. Charlie Warner said.

The officers were responding to a crash involving multiple vehicles on I-65 South at exit 65.

Heavy rain caused water to pool on the interstate, and another driver hydroplaned and crashed into the police cars.

Both cruisers were damaged, Warner said. The driver was not hurt.

The initial accident was reported at about 7:20 p.m. TDOT reports some of the southbound lanes are blocked. The wreck should be cleared before 9 p.m.
