SCS extends General Choice Transfer process due to rezoning proposals

(WMC-TV) – Shelby County School District extended the General Choice Transfer process through Friday, March 21 to allow parents more time to look at their options for the 2014-2015 school year.

This extension is due to the proposed rezoning considerations. The process began February 18 and was scheduled to end Friday, March 7.

The online application process is open to all students in Shelby County.

In Thursday's release, SCS said:

Students on an existing General Choice Transfer at a school that will be part of SCS in 2014-15 are approved through the exit grade of the current school and do not have to re-apply.

SCS will not renew a student's General Choice Transfer if the student attends a school that will be part of a municipal district and does not live within that municipal school district's boundaries.
