Suspects stab victim, take $3 during reported armed robbery

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Wilmington Police are investigating reports of an armed robbery Saturday night.

Officials said Wilmington Police Officers were on a routine patrol in the area of Anderson and Grace Streets when they were flagged down by a victim who had been stabbed once in the torso.

According to officials, the victim said while walking away from Ruth's Grocery on Rankin Street, they realized they were being followed by two or three suspects. Officials said the victim told them one of the suspects had a knife and one had a gun.  

The victim told police the suspects demanded money, so the victim handed over $3 and was stabbed by one of the suspects.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
