ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Forty students from the national group Students Today Leaders Forever, STLF, paid a visit to the Anderson County PAWS animal shelter to provide volunteer service.

The shelter has been struggling ever since taking in 119 animals that were seized from an Easley home in February and are being held at the facility until the trial involving the animals' former owner comes to a close.

STLF was created in 2003 by a group of college students who were inspired by the movie "Pay It Forward" to begin their own volunteer service campaign, according to a news release.

The PAWS Shelter was just one of six stops STLF will make during the group's six-city spring break tour.

Instead of partying the group says members perform community service projects in each city they visit.
