Marshall County sheriff expected to leave hospital within days

(WMC-TV) - Sunday night, Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson is recovering at The Regional Medical Center following a horrible crash on Saturday. Deputies told Action News 5 that Dickerson is doing much better and is expected to leave the hospital in a few days.

Dickerson was seriously injured in a two car crash in Byhalia, Miss. near the Fred's store on Saturday. He has worked as the county sheriff for decades, and is considered to be beloved amongst both co-workers and residents.

"The sheriff greatly appreciates everything, we've told him about it, our cell phones been blowing up. The jail has been getting calls, it makes you fee better to be in a position that he's in, what he went through that all these people are concerned and worried about him," said Kelly McMillen, deputy at the sheriff's office.

Action News 5 inquired about the condition of the other person involved the wreck, and was told officials are looking for a next of kin before releasing any details.
