MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) –A suspect in an alleged DUI crash that sent a Memphis police officer to the hospital in critical condition faces a judge Monday morning.

On Saturday Officer Katrina Cobb made a traffic stop at Poplar Avenue and North Willett Street.

According to investigators, that's when 28-year-old Ismael Vincente slammed into the back of Cobb's squad car, pinning her between her squad unit and the car she pulled over.

Officers say Vincente appeared drunk with blood-shot eyes, slurred speech, and the smell of alcohol on his breath. Police also found empty beers cans in his car.

Vincente is charged with DUI, open container, reckless driving, driving without a license and not having insurance.

Officer Cobb was taken in critical condition to Regional One, formerly known as the MED.

She posted the following message on Facebook, "Thank god for all my brothers and sisters for the calls and text. I am bruised and swollen and got some torn tissue in my spine. God bless and thanks again!"

Vincente is being held in jail on $3,500 bond and is due in court at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
