TEXARKANA, AR (KSLA) -

The driver who lost control and struck a man in Texarkana Tuesday told police it happened after his dog jumped into his lap.

It happened on Stateline Ave. in Texarkana. Police say the man that was hit reportedly tried to dodge the oncoming car, but wasn't able to get out of the way. He has been identified as 33-year-old Brian Beson. Beson was taken to the hospital.

The driver, identified as 19-year-old Rodney Carriean, was not injured. No citations were issued.
