Fans travel to the Hoops City for AAC tournament

(WMC-TV) -The inaugural American Athletic Conference Tournament kicked off in Memphis Wednesday evening. Thousands of fans will cheer on their teams over the next four days.

Hoops fans from across the country started trickling into town with big plans, mostly to be in FedExForum.

Officials expect 15,000 out-of-town guests over the next few day pumping an estimated $15 million dollars into the local economy.

"We're gonna go to Graceland obviously, and I'd like to go to Sun music studios," said Cincinnati fan Tom Seidenberger.

Many plan to stay in town for the weekend no matter what happens inside FedExForum.

Rutgers and South Florida play early Wednesday evening, and UCF plays Temple later in the evening.

The Tigers play the Connecticut Huskies Thursday.
