(WMC-TV) - Blue and red lights bouncing off yellow crime scene tape became a common sight for some teenagers in the North Memphis and Frayser area this week.

Two people died out of the, at least, six people who were shot—some involved in a robbery while another fell victim to a possible drive-by shooting.

Community leaders refuse to let the violence take over their youth.

"You can't erase what they've seen, but you can attempt to show them that it's not normal. [Wednesday's shooting] happened yet, it was a bad situation yes, but it's not normal. This is what's normal," said Deandre Brown with LifeLine To Success describing a community gathering.

Now in the "Unity in the Community" project this weekend, teenagers will gather for a jam.

"A safe haven, a place to come together, and have fun and then connect them with resources and opportunities as well. That's available to them in the community," said organizer Charlie Caswell.

The teen jam will take place Saturday night from 6 to 10 p.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church on Frayser Boulevard.
