A Better Mid-South: Take a new, unfamiliar route

MEMPHIS, TN -

Editorial by Tracey Rogers, Action News 5 general manager:

(WMC-TV) - When I come to the station each morning, I normally take Sam Cooper Boulevard. But Monday was a different story.

I knew the construction chaos had started on Sam Cooper, which has closed some of the lanes and I figured things would be just a bit congested.

With that in mind, I took Walnut Grove to Action News 5 on Union Avenue.

It really opened up my eyes to a new part of the city and reminded just how beautiful so many areas of Memphis really are.

It's quite different from hitting I-40 into Midtown.

It also reminded me of an article recently published on WMCTV.COM, where Drew Mason wrote that changing up his commute gave him a new outlook on his city.

Has the construction on Sam Cooper or any other roadways forced you to change your drive? Tell me about it by email at abettermidsouth@wmctv.com or find me on Facebook by searching A Better Mid-South.

Maybe you could use this opportunity to see another part of the city and gain a new appreciation for what we have. That appreciation always makes this A Better Mid-South.
