WEST MEMPHIS, AR -

(WMC-TV) - A fugitive was arrested in connection with a homicide that happened in West Memphis five years ago.

Arthur Gregory, 18, was shot in his driveway. He died later at The MED. Detectives had very little to go on and eventually grew cold.

Witness statements and new evidence came to light recently that led to an arrest in the case.

Jessie James Washington, 25, of West Memphis was taken into custody without incident. He is charged with one count of capital murder. He is being held without bond.

"We understand this matter is far from being resolved in court, however, we are very pleased with today's arrest as well as being able to share this news with Arthur's family," said West Memphis Police Chief Donald Oakes. "It was some measure of long overdue relief for two parents still coping with the loss of their son."

Washington will appear in West Memphis District Court Friday morning.
