TUNICA COUNTY, MS -

(WMC-TV) - On Saturday evening, a Mid-South teen was laid to rest. His friends and family saying the torment he endured ended with his killing and they hope this example will put an end to cyberbullying.

Samantha Matthews, a friend of Donterrius Jackson, says it is hard to imagine that threats on Facebook led to his death. Matthews says she witnessed the cyberbullying escalate online.

"Just going in there like as soon as I walked in the door I just started crying and it's hard to talk about it," said Matthews.

Jackson's mother told Action News 5 that she made several attempts to get help for her son, but nothing was done.

"What I said is it was premeditated because they said what they were going to do and they did just that."

Jackson's funeral was held at the high school he attended, where classmates and family members are left searching for answers and want to warn others about the dangers of social media.

"If it wasn't for like Facebook and the bullying and stuff, it wouldn't have went down like that and it wouldn't have happened. People need to wake up and realize that killing somebody, that's not a game," said Matthews.
