MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – A car fire on westbound Interstate 40 in Memphis caused big traffic problems Monday morning.

Fire crews put out a car fire on the interstate between Sycamore View Road exit and the Interstate 240 flyover around 7 a.m.

There was also an accident caused by the smoke from the car fire that was on the right shoulder of I-40.

As of 7:45 a.m., all lanes of westbound I-40 were open after TDOT moved the car to the shoulder.

Traffic was heavy in this area due to the accident and lane closures from the Sam Cooper Boulevard construction.
