Second arrest made in Memphis cab driver's murder investigation

(WMC-TV) - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Fayette County Sheriff's Department arrested a second woman in connection with a cab driver murder.

Investigators charged Kimberly Ransom, 21, of Cordova Wednesday. During the investigation, Ransom used an alias name and provided law enforcement with false information regarding details of Zewdneh Assemu's murder. Ransom is being held at the Fayette County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

Assemu, 43, of Bartlett, was found beaten and stabbed to death by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office in a field near Highway 196 North in December. His cab was located near the scene along with some of his personal belongings.

The FCSD arrested Tanuja L. Rivers, 19, of Arlington in February in relation to the crime. She is charged with one count of felony first-degree murder and one count of especially aggravated robbery.
