Chesterfield parents in shock after student tries to stab another on school bus

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

Chesterfield parents and students are in shock after a student allegedly tries to stab another on a school bus.

Police say it happened Thursday morning on the way to the Chesterfield Technical Center. According to investigators, two male students got into an argument on the school bus, which turned violent.

The teen suspect became angry with the boy police say and pulled out a folding knife then tried to stab him. That teen now faces charges of misdemeanor assault and possession of a weapon on school property.

"I would've never thought that would happen," said Cosby High senior Jordan Pike. Jordan also attended Chesterfield Technical last year to study criminal justice.

The school offers cosmetology, cooking, even nursing classes that high school students can take for college credit.

"If the law says no weapons on the bus then definitely you should obey the law," said Chesterfield dad Robby Michael. "That's crazy!"

"It seems like there's a whole lot of things going on the busses and the schools," said Chesterfield resident Mary Rivas. "We've lost complete control of the children.

NBC12 reached out to Chesterfield Schools to see if the student had been suspended but citing privacy concerns, they wouldn't comment.
