(WMC-TV) - ANDY, WILL IT WORK? Turtle Wax Label & Sticker Remover = WISEBUY (on specific adhesives and surfaces)

The job it can do on a bumper sticker alone is worth the Turtle Wax Label & Sticker Remover's $5 price tag.

Its' label claims it can remove adhesives from glass, auto bumpers, rubber-cemented decals -- most any auto or home adhesive on non-porous surfaces.

WMC Action News 5's Chief Consumer Investigator Andy Wise tested it with Don Moss at Mid-South Hobbies and Games in Berclair's Cloverleaf Shopping Center, 5130 Old Summer Rd. We let it soak into a sticker on a factory-painted model airplane Moss said was built a few years ago.

The sticker came right off, without damaging the paint.

"That surprised me, quite frankly," Moss said.

Andy thought rubber cement would be a gooey, nasty challenge. But the Turtle Wax Label & Sticker Remover removed not just one, but two stickers -- one lathered with rubber cement and attached to a surface, the other treated with rubber cement and pressed to a surface pre-treated with rubber cement -- right off a model car without damaging the paint or leaving any residue.

But the most impressive job was on a bumper sticker that's been stuck on Andy's car for two years. It removed the sticker whole, without leaving any residue or discoloring the car's paint job.

That pretty much makes the Turtle Wax Label & Sticker Remover a WISE BUY.

But buyer beware!

When sprayed on a 'water-slide' decal on a hand-painted model plane, the Turtle Wax Label & Sticker Remover removed the decal, but it also removed the paint.

"It actually damaged the paint and the model," said Moss.

Also, after three applications, it could not remove a sticker from glass, although Moss said the sticker had been on the glass for as long as 10 years.

"But if you find a purpose for it like automotive...like on that bumper sticker...absolutely, I would buy it," Moss said. "It worked great."
