MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - The man who confessed to raping several women in Memphis withdrew his request for a trial. Anthony Alliano initially filed the request last month in an attempt to rescind his guilty plea, saying it was his attorney who wanted him to plead guilty.

Alliano confessed to rape of a child, multiple aggravated rapes, aggravated robberies, sexual battery, and more. He was sentenced to a total of 178 years in prison.

In 2012, Alliano was ordered to submit to a blood test. From there, DNA evidence ended up connecting him to a least six other sexual assaults. That string of assaults began in 2003.
