Chemical company to expand in La., creating over 1,600 jobs

GARYVILLE, LA (WVUE) -

Gov. Bobby Jindalannounced Friday that chemical company Air Products is expanding its facilities.

The company has spent $1billion to connect its distribution system from Lake Charles to Plaquemine and isbuilding four major hydrogen plants along the river from Baton Rouge to Garyville.

"These four newhydrogen plants have helped to triple the capacity and complete the largesthydrogen pipeline in the world," Jindal said.

According to Jindal, themove creates 1,600 construction jobs, keeps 300 existing jobs in the state andcreates 32 new direct jobs with an average annual salary of $80,000.
