MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Five suspected prostitutes are off the streets after an undercover sweep in a Memphis neighborhood. All five suspects are scheduled to go before a judge Monday.

Part of Friday night's undercover sting operation happened on Tillman Street. Detectives say each woman was approached by an undercover officer who acted as a decoy.

After a proposition for sex and money, Tamara Sisson, Lisa Prejean, Zenekia Taylor, Christina Hickey, and Patti Newkirk were arrested. Each woman was charged with prostitution near a church or school.

This area of Tillman Street includes at least three churches and at least one school.

WMC Action News 5 spoke to a mother who lives in the neighborhood who says she's concerned about Memphis police's priorities.

She says officers can do more to clean up her part of town.

"They are actually worried about more traffic tickets, than what is going on in this neighborhood," Tremika Pirtle said. "They burn the streets up and ride corner to corner and they stop the wrong people for the wrong things, when it's other stuff that's going on out here right in front of them that they shouldn't be doing."

All five women are due in court Monday and WMC Action News 5 will be tracking what happens in the courtroom.
