(WMC-TV) - Holly Bobo's family and friends sat in the Decatur County court room on Wednesday, hoping for another look at the man accused of kidnapping and murdering the nursing student. But Zachary Adams was not in court.

Adams did not appear in court because the judge waived his right to appear. The judge told the court he regretted his decision and from now on, Adams will have to appear.

In Wednesday's status hearing, the state warned they have three years worth of evidence, and it may take time to go through all of it. They described it as voluminous.

Zach Adams had an attorney when he made his first court appearance last month, but he has not officially hired one. The judge said the case cannot proceed until that happens. The Bobo family and their friends seemed disappointed by the developments.

"The defense didn't seem prepared or it was a pretty good ploy to put it off, and you know, we  want to move forward," said Bobo family friend, Tammy Ramey.

Holly Bobo disappeared from her home in Darden, Tenn. three years ago. She was reportedly kidnapped and taken to the woods by a man dressed in camouflage.

Another status hearing for Adams is scheduled for the end of April in Decatur County. Adams, who is being held behind bars, will have to show up.
