(WMC-TV) - Wrestling fans across the world are mourning the loss of Ultimate Warrior. The wrestling legend died Tuesday.

For more than 20 years, the WMC Action News 5 studio was home to Saturday morning wrestling. It is where Ultimate Warrior got his start.

The wrestler's speech inside the WWE ring just two days ago is almost epiphanic.

"Every man's heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe its final breath," said Ultimate Warrior as he accepted his position at the WWE Hall of Fame.

The WWE community was stunned to learn about the death of 54-year-old Jim Hellwig, the Ultimate Warrior.

The Warrior had been in New Orleans all weekend, after being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Memphis wrestler Jerry "The King" Lawler was ringside in New Orleans as Ultimate Warrior uttered some of his final public words.

"He put on his warrior jacket, got into the ring, shook the ropes, and ran ringside. Just after that exertion, he looked winded and was breathing heavy. He talked about telling people you love them and leaving a legacy that will endure," Lawler remembered.

Lawler got to know Ultimate Warrior in Memphis, at the WMC Action News 5 studios.

Hellwig started out as part of a wrestling duo with Steve Borden, better known as Sting. The duo was known as The Blade Runners.

"We tried to use them as baby faces, the good guys, but for some reason, that didn't work. So, they became bad guys or heels," said WMC Action News 5 Chief Meteorologist and former wrestling commentator Dave Brown.

Jerry Lawler says Ultimate Warrior's untimely death should serve as a lesson to us all.

"You need to keep your life in order, because you never know when you're not gonna be here anymore," said Lawler.
