MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officially opened its precheck application site at Memphis International Airport on Friday.

The expedited screening program will allow travelers to leave on their shoes, white outerwear and belts, keep their laptops in their cases, and even keep the 3-1-1 compliant gels/liquids in their carry-on bags.

Essentially, the program will make it easier for travelers going through the airport to get to their planes on time.

Travelers will also now be able to go through a pre-enrollment process online, make an appointment, and complete their enrollment at the application center to verify their identity.

Airport officials say its all about making security effective while making travel efficient.

"We are working towards our positively 'MEMorable' travel experience, that customer service model that makes Memphis International Airport the airport of choice," says President/CEO of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority Scott Brockman.

There is an $85 fee for a five year membership in the pre-check program.

"Wonderful, happy to hear that. I'm happy to pay the $85 and get online and go through easier," said frequent traveler Bishop White.

Airport officials recommend visiting their website at www.tsa.gov to find out more details about this program, and also find out what you need to bring with you to the airport when you come to qualify.
