(WMC-TV) – A family barely escaped their burning home early Saturday morning.

At about 5:30, several fire trucks from Shelby County and Arlington Fire Departments responded to a home on Forest Edge in Lakeland.

They saw flames shooting through the roof of the home, but less than 20 minutes later, they brought the fire under control.

The house did have a working smoke detector, and nobody was injured.
