MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Extra security is on hand at the The Memphis Jewish Community Center after what happened Sunday in Kansas City, Missouri. A lone gunman shot and killed three people and two different Jewish facilities; two of the victims had Mid-South connections.

Now, on Passover, the Jewish community in the Mid-South is on high alert.

Will Corporon was a news director at WMC Action News 5's sister station, KAIT, in Jonesboro, Ark. in the early 1990s. He even hired some of the people who currently work at WMC Action News 5. His father, Dr. William Lewis Corporon and his nephew, Reat Griffin Underwood, were killed in the shootings. They were not Jewish.

Mindy Corporon, who lost her dad and son, spoke at an emotional service for the victims.

"My name is Mindy Corporon," she said. "I am the daughter of the gentleman who was killed, and I'm the mother of the son who was killed. And I want to tell you how much I appreciate you all being here. I heard that there was going to be a vigil. And we all grieve in different ways, and I just wanted to tell people thank you."

Police describe the gunman as 73-year-old Frazier Glenn Cross. As he was being taken away, he shouted a Neo-Nazi slogan.

Detectives say Cross faces charges of premeditated murder.

As investigators continue to gather clues, others are focusing on the victims' families.

"I came upon the scene very, very, quickly," said Mindy. "I was there before the police, and I was there before the ambulance, and I knew immediately that they [her father and son] were in heaven and I know that they are in heaven together."
