The Citadel Game at Western Carolina Suspended in Bottom of Fourth


Saturday's game between The Citadel and Western Carolina was suspended by rain after the top of the fourth with the Bulldogs leading the Catamounts by a score of 2-0.

The game will be resumed on Sunday at 1 p.m. followed by a nine-inning single contest that will serve as the finale of an abbreviated two-game set. The scheduled opening game on Friday night was rained out.

The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the first when Mason Davis was hit by a pitch and scored on an RBI single byTyler Griffin. After The Citadel left the bases loaded in the second, Griffin made it a two-run game when he led off the third with his fifth home run of the season.

The senior right fielder has hit in six straight games and driven in a run in all of them for a total of 11 RBI during this hot streak.

Logan Cribb blanked the Catamounts through the first three innings, allowing only a two-out single to Taylor Sandefur in the second. Jeremy Null, the Catamount starter and preseason SoCon Pitcher of the Year, surrendered four hits and walked two in four innings.
