FAYETTE COUNTY, TN -

(WMC) - A child is dead and three others were taken to the hospital after a car crash in Fayette County. Investigators say the driver lost control while making a beer run with four kids in tow.

When a Fayette County mother went to sleep, her children were safely at home. When she woke up, she found out that her three sons had been taken by helicopter to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital and one of their friends was dead.

"It's a nightmare," said Bobbie Maturen, whose three sons were taken to the hospital after a deadly crash Saturday night. "I don't wish this on any parent, period. Ever."

Maturen's sons, ages 9, 13, and 15, were injured in the crash that killed their 11-year-old friend. They had ruptured spleens, lacerated livers, and broken bones.

Investigators say 25-year-old Randall Burnett, who was taken to Regional One Health, was driving when he lost control of the car and ran off of the road. Everyone was ejected from the small car.

Maturen says Burnett and his mother had been living in a camper on her property for about one month. She took them in after a domestic situation unfolded at their home.

"I was being a friend," she said. "I helped her out and this is what it cost me."

Before she went to sleep Saturday night, she told her children to go to bed after they were done playing video games. She says her children asked Burnett to take them to the store.

According to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report, Burnett had been drinking but the report does not say whether he was drunk. Speed was a factor in the crash.

Charges against Burnett are pending. He was released from Regional One Health a few days ago.

Maturen's 9-year-old and 13-year-old were released from the hospital. Her 15-year-old is still hospitalized after contracting an infection.
