Power restored to all but 48 customers after morning accident

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A car crashing into a pole on Ft. Lowell Rd. has traffic closed down, according to Tucson Police.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured, according to TPD, who are also saying they believe neither drugs nor alcohol were the cause of the accident. 

Traffic on Ft. Lowell eastbound from Country Club and westbound from  Palo Verde is expected to be shut down for the next several hours due to repair work.

Drivers advised to avoid the area if possible - use Grant Rd. or Glenn as alternates.

Power has since been restored to all but 48 customers, from the original 9,300 reported without power by Tucson Electric Power officials.  Crews are still working the scene.

Power was also restored to three of the TUSD schools, according to officials.  One school - Hughes Elementary has intermittent power.
