NBA Commissioner holds press conference in Memphis

(WMC) - Commissioner Silver commented briefly on Donald Sterling's comments, speaking carefully, though he admitted that the audio recording is truly offensive.

As the league said earlier on Saturday, the audio recording posted by TMZ is truly offensive and disturbing and we intend to get the bottom of it at quickly as possible."

During his visit to Memphis, Commissioner Adam Silver spoke for the first time about possible sanctions against Clippers Owner Donald Sterling.

"I personally think the situation is most unfair to the Clippers players and coaches who have to deal with this distraction in the middle of their own highly competitive playoff series," said Silver.

Meanwhile, fans waiting to get into the game had a lot to say.

"In this day and age, it's pretty ridiculous that someone that is a public figure and owner who employs multiracial employees would say something that like that," said Drew Rixon.

Even OKC Fans had beef with Sterling's comments.

"A league full of minorities; I don't now why you would say something like that," added Freddie Rodgers.

Something that, for a moment, is taking fans minds off the playoffs and putting pressure on the Silver to discipline Sterling.

"All members of the NBA family should be awarded due process and a fair opportunity to present their side of any controversy. Which is why I'm not yet prepared to discuss any potential sanctions against Donald Sterling," noted Silver.

Officially Sterling has been asked not to attend the Clippers' Sunday playoff game. The NBA should have a final decision on Monday.
