JACKSON, TN -

(WMC) – A man arrested four months after allegedly killing his estranged wife is due in court on Thursday.

On Wednesday, April 30, Jackson, Tenn. police charged 30-year-old John Christie with first-degree murder in the death of 26-year-old Brittany Christie.

An autopsy revealed she died from a combination of drugs on December 6, 2013.

Investigators learned that John and Brittany Christie had recently begun seeing each other again.

The two had been sharing a room at the Old Hickory Inn in Jackson. While they were there, John gave Brittany clonazepam that made her helpless and then injected her with heroin.

According to investigators, he gave Brittany the overdose of drugs to prevent her from revealing their relationship to his girlfriend.

John Christie is due in Jackson City Court via video arraignment on Thursday morning.
