MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC) - He was arrested and forced to shut down an LGBT nightclub back in 2010. Now former Memphis club owner Michael Shane Trice has resurfaced in Florida and there is currently a warrant out for his arrest.

In 2010, officials shut down the Backstreet Club in Midtown Memphis, which had been considered one of the city's largest gay dance clubs. They say the pervasive problems were just too much.

"Smoking of marijuana in the patio area, purchase of cocaine, selling of beer after three a.m., sex acts in front of club employees with no effort to prevent them," said the then-Shelby County District Attorney Bill Gibbons when it closed.

A few years later the club's owner Trice resurfaced in Jacksonville, Florida but law enforcement in the state said not in a good way.

Gretl Plessinger with the Florida Department of law Enforcement says Trice has been on the run since March when police began looking for him.

"The warrant is for fraudulent activities," he said. "Jacksonville sheriff's office is actually the reporting agency, so they are the ones that issued the warrant. Once a warrant is issued in Florida it goes in our statewide database."

Investigators accuse him of opening credit cards, cell phone accounts, and more under former employees social security numbers and dates of birth. He remains on the run from authorities and may be hiding in the Memphis area.
