For the first time in years, the congregation at Coxey Church of Christ was unable to hold services at their own location. However, thanks to the owner of Athens Church on Pryor Street, they still had a place to meet Sunday afternoon.

"There is not a better feeling in the world - none," said Paul Dobbs of Athens Church. "It's like at Christmas, they tell you it's better to give that receive."

After Monday's storms left their church in ruins, members of the Coxey congregation said they were overwhelmed by the amount of support that came from the community to help fix their church and find a temporary place to worship.

"It made me a little bit more positive, knowing that there are more people out there that just try to help," said one young man.

Coxey preacher Daniel Ridinger said his parishioners were thankful to be able to gather, regardless of the location. He said it's not about where you worship, but the people you worship with.

"I am thankful we have a place where we can assemble together. We could actually assemble out on the grass someplace; you don't need a building, weather permitting," he said.

Ridinger said he hopes to hold services back at the Coxey Church of Christ next weekend, in their fellowship room.
