(WMC) - Help from the Mid-South is on its way to victims of last week's tornado in Tupelo, Miss. Volunteers in Olive Branch had so many donations to haul, they needed more equipment.

Organizers had to get a second truck to take donations to victims in Mississippi. Both trucks are now in Tupelo after leaving bright and early Monday morning.

A mountain of supplies filled just one truck. Mid-Southerners donated everything from food, water, clothes, and even diapers for the folks in Tupelo who are picking up the pieces.

Mike Beamon started collecting items just a few days after the storm. It did not take long before he realized one truck was not going to cut it.

"It's truly giving from the heart and it's touching. It really warms your heart," said Beamon.

Beamon works out at the YMCA in Olive Branch. Last week WMC Action News 5 told you about how he got fellow gym members and the rest of the community to start spreading the word about his donation drive. Churches, businesses, and people came to the rescue, some giving everything they had.

"We've got clothes in one, we've got the supplies they need in the other," added Beamon.

Beamon is overwhelmed by the Mid-South's response and is saying "thank you" to those who helped.

"I'm about to smile from ear to ear for what these people have done, it's amazing."

Federal emergency officials are still in Tupelo and the surrounding areas working to help victims figure out what's next. Many in the area may qualify for federal help after a disaster declaration from President Obama last week.
