MATA bus ends up on I-40 concrete barrier after crash

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC) – Four emergency crews were called to a crash involving a Memphis Area Transit Authority bus on eastbound Interstate 40 near the Austin Peay Highway/Jackson Avenue exit.

The crash happened just after 6:30 a.m. on Friday. The MATA bus ended up on top of a concrete barrier. There was at least one other vehicle involved.

Memphis Fire Department and TDOT officials responded to the scene.

Three lanes are open on eastbound I-40. Crews were able to get the MATA bus off the barrier around 9:15 a.m.

There is no word yet on whether anyone was injured in the accident.
