MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC) - As a rape suspect hides from police, a brave Memphis mother is speaking up.

The mother, who wants to remain anonymous, wants justice for her daughter, who is still in the hospital nearly one week after she was attacked, beaten and raped.

The attack happened in an empty field just after 4 a.m. on Saturday near the intersection of Willie Mitchell Boulevard and East Olive Avenue in South Memphis.

"I got pain, I have pain. A lot of pain behind it," said the victim's mother. "He snatched her up. He raped her. He beat her, shoved a stick down her throat, and left her for dead."

The woman screamed so loud it woke up neighbors. Her mother believes the attacker tried to silence her with the stick.

"The stick was broke off in her throat," she said. "They had to go in and remove the stick out of her mouth, so they could do some repairs up in her mouth and her throat."

The first officers on the scene saw the attacker running away. Investigators describe him as a young black man, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 180 pounds, with a slim build.

The victim's mother describes him as a monster.

"He needs to be caught and locked up," she said. "He was trying to kill her. He had told her that he was going to kill her. After he got through raping and beating her, he told her to her face that he was going to kills her."

She continued, "He deserves to be caught. He needs to be in jail. Because what he did to my daughter, believe me, he will do to another."
