Pay It Forward started out this week near the intersection of 47th and Salem as went into a residential neighborhood seeking this week's playmaker.
Laurie Lopez spotted our Pay It Forward sign within a minute or two and immediately drove into the parking lot.
Laurie knew exactly how the program works.
When we asked her who she would like to help out, she chose a Lubbock teacher who has really been more than a teacher to her and her family.
Laurie decided to Pay It Forward to April Baucum, who is a teacher at Stewart Elementary School.
When asked why she wanted to help April, Laurie told us, "I had some stuff come up last year and she was right there."
We made the short drive to Stewart Elementary School where we had to check in at the office and wait for the principal to seek April out.
When April arrived at the office, she was greeted by fellow teachers and our crew.
Laurie counted out $300 to April, catching her completely off guard.
Laurie tearfully counted the money out and told April, "I can never repay you for what you've done for my children and what you did for them."
April accepted the money.
How will April use the money?
"This is something that will go back to the kids. It's about them. That's why I teach," said April.
Be looking for our Pay It Forward sign soon. You may become our next playmaker.
