Selma man accused of burglarizing neighbor's apartment

A Selma man has been arrested after police say he burglarized his neighbor's apartment.

Friday night shortly before 10, Selma police officers responded to the 2000 block of Deer Ridge Ave., after receiving a report of a burglary, according to Lt. Curtis Muhannad with the Selma Police Department.

Officers found the back window of an apartment was broken, and there were traces of blood on the glass and window seal. Two flat screen TVs had also been moved to the back door of the apartment.

After receiving information that the suspect was a neighbor, officers went next door and discovered Derrick Rayshun Martin, 40, of Selma lying on his living room floor "pretending to be asleep."

Officers discovered that Martin had fresh injuries and was bleeding from his legs.

Martin was arrested and charged with third degree burglary. He's being held in the Dallas County Jail on $30,000 bond.
