Three suspects charged with murder of newlywed couple

MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC) – Police arrested and charged three people on Tuesday with the murders of James and Danielle Alexander. 

Ricky Durham, 25, Devin Gary, 21, and Kendrick Stark, 18, are all charged with two counts of first-degree murder in perpetration of a robbery.

The Alexanders were found dead in their home on Enterprise Avenue in April by their 7-year-old daughter. Three other children were inside the home at the time.

According to the affidavit, police developed Durham and Gary as suspects after talking to witnesses.

Durham admitted to being inside the home and to stealing a television, but he did not admit to shooting the couple. 

Court records show that Durham is a confirmed member of the Grape Street Crips gang. He has previous burglary and weapons charges in Shelby County.

Gary gave a written statement that he was at the house where both victims were killed; new information shows he was in the house during the homicide and theft, according to the police report. Gary also admitted taking the TV from the house after the murders. 

Both suspects are due in court on Wednesday, May 14.
